Sofia the First Wiki

"Cedric Be Good" is the fifty-fifth episode of the Disney Jr. animated series, Sofia the First. It premiered on September 18, 2015, and is the third episode of the third season.

Overview[]

Cedric succeeds at last in stealing Sofia's amulet, by switching it with a fake. But whenever Cedric tries to use its power to take over the kingdom, it curses him in a variety of ways. He seeks Sofia's help in becoming a good person when he learns the curses can only be broken by doing good deeds, all while trying to keep her from finding out she's not really wearing her amulet.

Plot[]

Sofia and James are picking apples in the Royal Orchard to give to the villagers. Suddenly, Cedric flies in on a flying machine. Sofia and James ask him if they can ride it, but he refuses. Cedric heads to his workshop with a flower from the Charmacy called the Alabaster Rose, a rare flower that blooms every one hundred years, to make a Power Plucking Potion which he plans to use to make Sofia's amulet give him any power he wants after he steals it with a fake replica he made. Then, Cedric will have plenty of time to use the potion on the real amulet and give himself a power so great he will take over the kingdom.

Back in the orchard, while Sofia and James are still picking apples, Wormwood distracts Sofia by stealing an apple, and Cedric uses a Switching Spell to switch the unaware Sofia's amulet with the fake one. He tells his mother, who tells Cedric the different abilities the Amulet can provide. Cedric wants the power of supreme strength so he can be the mightiest in the land. He then tries to get the potion out of the flask, only to discover he has sticky hands. Because of this, the potion falls on the floor and gets destroyed when Winifred tries to free the hands. Cedric's hands get stuck on the floor. When Winifred sees that he put the Amulet on, she recites its rule and tells him that the Amulet put a curse on him when he stole it from Sofia. To break it, he needs to do a good deed, like give something to Sofia. Winifred becomes his chaperone on the way out.

Cedric hisses at the real amulet, which he hides, and refuses to give Sofia his flying machine, but after being told to do so by Winifred, he decides to think about it. Meanwhile, Wormwood spots Clover, Robin, and Mia and decides to play with them. Wormwood bathes on a fountain, but Clover, Robin, and Mia leave. However, when Wormwood states that it gets lonely in Cedric's workshop, Clover, Robin, and Mia decide to keep him company. Wormwood decides to show them the way to the castle's food pantry.

As Sofia and James gather all the apples, Cedric returns with his flying machine, which he would like to give to them. As Sofia hugs Cedric, the Sticky Hands Curse is broken. Sofia and James then ride the machine before Winifred tells Cedric to do very good things and kind acts to Sofia to gain powers. Cedric gives James another ride and asks to come with Sofia to the village to hand out the apples. Meanwhile, Wormwood, Clover, Robin, and Mia are playing baseball in the food pantry, with Wormwood catching the ball, allowing him and Clover to win. Wormwood decides on a game of waffle hockey with him as the goalie.

In the village, Sofia gives the apples to the villagers, while Winifred tells Cedric to do something nicer. Cedric enlarges an orange tree so that it's full of fruits. This causes all the villagers to head there and get its fruits. As a result, Cedric has the power to turn big. But when he squashes a hay wagon, he shrinks. Cedric turns it back to normal, but he doesn't turn big. Winifred tells Cedric to stop doing bad things and do another good deed quick by following Sofia's lead.

Through a song, Cedric then does more nice things with help from Sofia, like helping a little girl score a goal (which makes him bounce really high, but loses it when he tells birds to get away from him and his nose turns into a beak), cleaning up a villager's mess (which turns his beak back to a nose), and replacing another girl's ice cream with a larger one, attracting the villagers (which makes Cedric turn anything into ice, but loses it when he freezes the ocean, causing a boat to crash into a pier). After Cedric fixes the pier and puts the boat back in the ocean, Sofia tells him to head back home, but after Cedric rejects the idea, Sofia decides for them to do another good deed.

They spot a man struggling to build a house for his family, and Cedric uses his magic to finish the house, and the man thanks them. Afterwards, Cedric finally gains the power he's longed for: Supreme Strength. Afterwards, he and Sofia head back to the castle. Meanwhile, one of the kitchen maids shoos Wormwood, Clover, Robin, and Mia out of the castle just as Sofia arrives. She is shocked when she can't hear what the animals are saying, and she does not shrink; it is that moment Sofia discovers that her Amulet isn't working and can't use her powers anymore, not knowing the full truth, and heads to find Cedric with Wormwood also looking for him.

Meanwhile, Cedric uses his Supreme Strength to lift the King's throne and declares himself the king of Enchancia while ruling with an iron fist. As a result, Cedric's Supreme Strength gets taken away and he gets cursed with metal hands, which destroy the staircase. Wormwood finds Cedric, who heads back to his workshop. There, Winifred tells Cedric to do the noblest kind-hearted thing he can think of. Sofia then arrives, seeing the workshop in a mess and telling Cedric about her powerless Amulet and asking if she can fix it. Having had enough, Cedric asks Sofia the spell works if she closes her eyes, so she doesn't find out the truth; he returns the Amulet to Sofia, breaking his curse and she thanks him.

Sofia is happy about it and leaves. Winifred concludes that returning Sofia's Amulet was the right thing to do for Cedric. The Amulet's powers work again as Sofia can talk to her animal friends again. She then goes for a ride with James in Cedric's flying machine. During the ride, Sofia calls Cedric the best, and Cedric assumes that it's something he supposes.
